FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT - 175.MILLIONS OF EUROS THROUGH IPARD II PROGRAM

Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities in the cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, organized on March 23, 2015, the conference "Program for Pre-Accession Assistance for Rural Development 2014-2020 IPARD II." The organization of this event was supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation through project "Institutional support SCTM - Phase 2". At this conference participated aslo the president of Palilula Municipality Boban Džunić with associates who work on projects in the Municipality.

The process of European integration of Serbia for getting candidate status for the membership in the EU has opened up the possibility of using pre-accession funds for Rural Development (IPARD II program). Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in late 2013 began with the development of IPARD II program of the Republic of Serbia, for the new programming period 2014-2020.

The European Commission on 20 January 2015, decided to approve the proposal IPARD II program of the Republic of Serbia and identified 175 million euros for its implementation. The program should contribute to increasing productivity and competitiveness, harmonization with EU standards, adapting to the demands of domestic and foreign markets, as well as the development and diversification of economic activities and improving the quality of life in rural areas.

At a conference held in Belgrade's Sava Centre present were: Prof. Snezana Bogosavljević-Boskovic, Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Djordje Stanicic, SCTM Secretary General, Danilo Golubovic, State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, Aleksandar Bogunović, Head of Programming and Promotion of Rural Development Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection while the Croatian experience in this field presented Tugomir Majdak, Head of the Department of common affairs and funds. Bearing in mind that the document was translated also into Serbian, the conference was an opportunity to IPARD II program of the Republic of Serbia for the period 2014-2020 to be presented, as well as to provide additional information about the plans for the development of agriculture and rural areas in the period up to 2020.
